1. Who you're dealing with
textRay is provided by Strategic Minds Group Limited, trading as textRay, registered in England with its registered office at 57 Nine Elms Lane, London, SW11 7DF, United Kingdom ("textRay", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
2. What textRay is
textRay analyses a conversation you provide — an exported chat, screenshots, or pasted text — and produces an AI-generated report about communication patterns in it. Reports quote the conversation as evidence, read both sides, and describe patterns in a chat. They are not statements of fact about any person.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use textRay. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and may suspend accounts we reasonably believe belong to under-16s.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your data as described in the privacy policy.
5. What you may upload
You confirm that any conversation you scan:
- is one you took part in, or one you otherwise have the legal right to share with us;
- does not, to your knowledge, include intimate images or messages of a person who has not consented to them being shared;
- is not a conversation involving anyone under 16, other than incidental mentions.
You must not use textRay to monitor, harass, stalk, or gather evidence against another person, or to access anyone's messages without authority. We may suspend or terminate accounts used this way.
6. Credits and purchases
- Scans are paid for with credits, bought as in-app purchases through Apple. There is no subscription.
- An initial scan uses 1 credit; a full scan uses 3.
- A failed scan never costs a credit. If an analysis fails, the credit is not spent.
- Credits are personal to your account, are not transferable or redeemable for cash, and expire if your account is deleted.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Apple processes the payment; refund requests for purchases go through Apple's refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. AI output — what a report is and is not
- Reports are generated by AI from the conversation you provide. AI can be wrong, can miss context, and only ever sees the slice of conversation you gave it.
- A report is not medical, psychological, legal, or relationship advice, and is not evidence of anyone's character, intentions, or conduct.
- Do not make significant decisions about a relationship or a person based solely on a report.
- If a conversation involves threats, pressure, or control, textRay points you to support services. In an emergency, contact the emergency services, not an app.
8. Your content and our licence
Conversations you upload and the reports generated from them are yours. You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the service: to store, process, and analyse your uploads (including via the AI providers named in the privacy policy) solely to provide textRay to you. We do not use your conversations to train AI models or for advertising.
9. Our intellectual property
The app, website, brand, and everything in them (other than your content) belong to Strategic Minds Group Limited or our licensors. You may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or resell the service, or use it to build a competing dataset or product.
10. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempts to break, overload, or probe the security of the service, no automated access, and no uploading content designed to manipulate or damage the analysis.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using textRay and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we must for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the service; where reasonable we will give you notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17) survive termination.
12. Service availability
We aim to keep textRay available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or withdraw features. The service is provided "as is" and "as available".
13. Third-party links and services
The app and website link out to third-party sites and services — Apple's refund pages, support organisations, the ICO. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
14. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, or loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of £50 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
15. Indemnity
If you breach the promises in section 5 — for example by scanning a conversation you had no right to share — and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to compensate us for the losses and reasonable costs that result. This section does not apply to claims caused by our own breach of these terms or by our negligence.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
17. The boring-but-necessary bits
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about textRay. You may not transfer your account or rights under these terms to anyone else; we may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, on the same terms. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't waived it.
18. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use textRay after that means you accept the updated terms.
